765 Mini Ti Mono-Lock
Anyone as stoked as I am about this one?
All the goodness of the original 761, but tapped for tip up/down for your preference. I’ll be picking one of these mini’s up for sure (after the first production run is out of the way).

Definitely interested..... 0 -
I still favor the 761 due to the blade’s length, but this one is a must have IMO..
I have no doubt that this one will be a hit. People will only complain about the price at this point.. The detent and clip issue have obviously been resolved. Nice job BKC! And thanks for not fully ditching M390!0 -
Getting one for sure. 3.25" is about the perfect blade length for me. I love the 761 but its just a little bit too bulky for me to comfortably carry around all day. 0 -
Iam in for sure ..............LOL 0 -
I'm in on this one.. 0 -
I'm diggin' it, too.
But, wait...do I see two holes drilled where a clip would go, should I choose to carry tip-up?! BM has finally come around. And it looks like in a big way. Bravo Benchmade!!!0 -
I spoke to a rep from BM about the possibility of them modifying the existing 761 design to both tip up/down similar to the 765.. And they said the current plan is to keep the 761 the same, but that plan could change depending on the popularity of the 765 roll-out.. He stated that they only make modifications to production knives if they feel it’s important enough to change.. He did mention that if they do go tip up/down on the 761, they would have to switch the clip to the one that’s on the 765 so that it would be aesthetically pleasing in both spots.. He said they wouldn’t have to make any modifications to the existing 761 handle besides tapping new holes for tip up placement.. Whatever the future holds, I dunno But there might be some hope for you tip-up guys..
For me personally, I’m already used to the tip-down carry on the original 761.. The clip is flat enough on the Ti’s surface, that it doesn’t affect your grip in any way. Also, when the Ti clip is placed in the tip-down position, it covers the pivot screw.. So it gives off the illusion that it’s a clean surface on one side (which I really like aesthetically). I’m going to carry the new 765 with the clip placed tip-down because of that. It makes for less clutter around the lanyard hole (which looks a little busy on the pictured 765).0 -

YOU KEEP RUBBING MY NOSE IN IT!
I'm a lefty if this & mini had dual studs I'd have bough several. Having handled the knife thought it was great ( sand no dual studs & tip down only option - things BM should included)
Enjoy great knife0 -

hehe

It's become one of my favorite BM knives. If you need duel thumb studs, check out this thread:
Duel Thumbstud 761 - BF Thread
You might have some options now!0 -
PM Wow! Thanks
Jason why hasn't BM made it known we could get dual studs? With dual studs I likly to buy a few of the new minis. Will BM also tap back end for tip up carry?0 -

I wasn't aware we were sending people alternate studs for the 761... If they're working, then that's just plain luck. It's certainly not designed to accommodate our standard thumb lugs. It has a pretty big countersink on the backside of the blade so the flat head screw can seat flush to the blade surface.
Do you mean will we tap the back end of an existing 761 for tip up carry?0 -
Jason,
Can your R&D department confirm the duel studs will work
Yes since mini is set up for tip up carry can the bigger model handle be tapped for tip up carry?0 -

I pulled the CAD models up, and the OD of the countersink is slightly larger than the OD of the thumb lug. So that means it won't sit perfectly flush to the top surface of the blade, but will instead sink a bit down into the blade. I wouldn't say that's ideal, but it might work, I suppose.
You could try it with a set off a 940 and see what happens. Same shank OD and mating thumb lug hole.
We may at some point decide to make a rolling change for the 761. Depends on a lot of factors. We aren't set up to tap any existing handles though, that's for sure.0 -

I’m probably the only one who feels this way....but I absolutely love and appreciate the 761 as is. In fact, I will buy at least one, to two more 761’s before you guys roll out any new changes or tap any new holes for tip-up carry.
Tip down carry makes zero difference to me. I’d rather less holes in the Ti’s surface because it looks better aesthetically. The newly pictured 765 looks awfully busy around the lanyard hole area when tip-up. Honestly, knife nerds make way to big of a deal in regard to tip-up only preferences.
I do feel that there should be a left-friendly version so everyone is happy.0 -
The truth is.. for me, I also do prefer tip up carry when choosing my own personal EDCs. It makes it slightly easier to pull from my pocket and actuate, because there's no need to change hand positions. That being said, tip down has never ONCE ruined a knife for me. I've carried a 760, a 790, and a few other LLKs and monolocks over the years and that was never a serious concern.
These days it's virtually all AXIS locks for me, although I have a 765 in pocket as often as not these days as well.0 -
Jason,
What factors drove you guys to switch over to CPM-20CV? Especially on the new models including the G10 grip updates for 2016?
I ask because you guys are using M390 on the 765 and 1000001-1601If these steels are soooo similar, why have two options? Why not just go with one or the other?
Why is M390 being used on the shot show model and the more expensive 765? Is it purely marketing tactics? Or is there actually performance based reasoning behind the steel choices for a particular model design?0 -
We didn't switch over to CPM-20CV, we just added it to the lineup. It is indeed similar to M390, but not identical.
M390 is a bit tougher, but 20CV has better edge retention.0 -

No disrespect, but I’m aware of those facts already.
I’m just wondering why M390 was used on the Shot Show Volli and not CPM-20CV? Why would toughness matter on a smaller knife? Why is M390 used on the more expensive models and LE’s?
(Thx for pointing out my error dj)

For the 765, it purely and simply just made more sense to keep the family consistent. I don't really know anything about the SHOT special. I wasn't involved in that project. I'm sure 20CV would have performed just as well in either case. 0 -

I must of missed this one .......I wasnt able to go to show show .......lol0 -

I'll definitely be adding a 765 to my collection! It's been a while since the Bradley Alias 2, the last compact Ti framelock. When will these ship? 0 -

It'll be at least a few months at this point.0 -

As much as I love Titanium (I even has few inside of my body) and Super stainless steel, ambidextrous in me wants AXIS lock.

It is hard for me to like liner / frame lock.0 -

I don't think sub 3.5" blade matters on level of toughness. Like your beloved 810-1400, around that, there would be a possibility to prefer tougher blade.
On the same token, S90V is not known for toughness over S30V, so it seems to be used sub 3"~3.5" it seems.0 -
I just love the design! Super simple and clean. Esthetically, this even competes with a CRK. So glad that BM has decided to make 761 smaller since I'll never get one because of the size. The 765 interests me the most aside from the new mini griptilian in grey G10 but I wonder if Benchmade has revised the L-shaped lock face... From what I heard from some people that L-shaped lock face will cause some issue as they wear. Have to admit that I have no personal experience with the lock but considering the price, I wanted to hear some comment. Thanks. 0 -
I've been waiting on this knife for my collection 0 -
I've got funds set aside and I'll buy one of these immediately when these are released. 0 -
I finally picked up a 765. Mine has a sharp burr on the end of the lock bar that pokes me in the fore finger when I hold the knife. Is this a common flaw or does mine just need a trip back to Oregon City? 0 -
Trip ......... 0
