Didn't the 87 Debut 1/1/17?
It just barely turned 1 and 1/2 lol.
I want a new benchmade bali as much as the next person, but I want it done right. Last thing you want to do when you release a knife is stop production to fix QC or little design changes.....(blank stare)

Here’s what Benchmade needs to do for the 7x....I hope they read this!
5.5 inch milled titanium handles with ROUND skeletonized holes (like 4x) and polished like the 4x series. M390 4.5 inch Bowie style blade, zen pins instead of tang pins, and definitely magnetic latch!

Bowie style has always been my favorite.
I have heard nothing but good things about M390
Zen pins always make the blade shape sexier(for a tool)But makes it pinch a little.( acceptable trade off)
The mag latch, If they can find a way to make the it take less space and still make it look aesthetically pleasing. I am all for it.
4x pattern- Its worked for them in the 70s

Hmmm Never really thought of it....(Pulls out Notepad from back pocket.)
Alright here are the specs.
Hollow Ground Bowie Style Blade.Used in this concept 63 Made out of S90v
Handles will be 5.5 inches long.
milled titanium
Channel with zen pins
4x Style With Bearings
But like you said Rounded
All this with the blade should put it at around 4.8 oz standard
But the WOW factor would be the last 2 inches on the handles could be interchange(Think of the Spacers on a sandwiched construction)
If you want to go latch-less, you can buy a parts kit to make it look flush
A lot of flippers complained about the 87 looking ugly latch-less.
Want a magnetic latch with a cutout for a pocket-clip. Boom buy the parts kit.
Need more momentum? Boom Steel weights since the standard titanium isn't doing it for you.
Want a spring latch? boom install it and your good to go.
Are you So old school that a T-latch is what you want. Boom get the parts kit.
Aftermarket support for all the modders. would just be crazy.
If you are still having trouble picturing what I am talking about.
Look at the 87 on its side. 4inches of it is channel while the last 1.5 inches of the handle in the latch area looks sandwiched. All one piece.
I know more parts and parts kits sounds like a nightmare, But we are at the point where people like to customize everything. Everybody has preferences on what they want out of a bali. Yes, I know you can't make everybody happy. But if you made a bali where you can control the weight(latch system is just icing) you can make a lot of people happy.
I loved the 4x series because it was SO VAST with different versions.

Options make things a little more exciting.

Give me a tank to use every day, give me s90v or M4 in a more traditional 40 esk profile channel handle with a spring latch and a clip. About the same length handles as the 87.0 -

Yep, but was it a concept for the 49s, or was it a concept for a new 49? I know we have been told that there will never be another 49, but hope springs eternal. Also, the blade looks a bit different from my 49s and I wondered if it was pre or post the 49-01, 49-02, 49-SPL, etc.0 -
