BM556-1
I have to say the 556-1 is the best example of quality construction from Benchmade I have ever acquired.
I have purchased likely two dozen BM knives over the past 3-4 years and no other is like the 556-1.
I am not sure if this is just a "good one" by luck of the draw or if BM has upped the QC on this run of 556-1's.
The action is the smoothest I've had, the blade is perfectly centered, the grinds are even and more acute than typical, and it is the sharpest out of the box I've had.
It lasers phone book paper repeatedly with no snagging. Havent had many factory edges do the same.

Thanks - I'm trying to decide between the original 556 and the 556-1, so this is helpful. I started out wanting a good, low-priced knife, and this one costs a lot more than the original, but it seems to be worth the extra money. 0 -

Based almost entirely on this review, I bought the 556-1 instead of the (much less expensive) original. I'm not in love with the grey color, but other than that, this knife feels like it was built for my hand. Couldn't be more perfect - thanks again. 0 -

Well, if you call a listing of the specs and a paragraph on opening and closing the knife several times a review.

I have to say I thought the review was pretty good .....long winded but good reading , had alot to pros and cons so to speak with other options that one might look at.
To be really honest I got tired of reading and just glanced through the last half .....lol

Caught me at a weak moment , G-10....20CV....deep carry clip , whats not to like.

Thanks I have an 0450CF that I just bought a back up for also ......I really like that blade style alot. If they would only up grade the steel for me.....lol0
