I like the fine tip on the 943, that's usually my preference. That being said I wish BM would make a 943-1.

They're both good knives. The 943 is a little pointier, so better for stabbing duties like opening a grain sack.

The reason I got away from both the 940 and 943 was the aluminum handles and the lack of snob steel. Both of those deficits were corrected in the 940-1.

No offense , but I hope they dont ......
I cant afford any more knives at the moment .......LOL
That would be good if they would carry the S90V over to the 943 also

Well I have an 810 and I love the size honestly but I just need something just a tad smaller. Would the 950 maybe be a better choice. Is the s30v that much of a better steel over the 154cm

I really like my 940-1, but have carried a 943 in my edc rotation for many years. I would love to see the 943 blade in s90v. I have three 940-1 models so I would just switch out one of the cf handles to the new 943 blade

Either one is a great choice

I like the 'flair' of the 940 and the blade flicks out much easier with the extra weight out towards the tips of the blade, but i find the 930 is a slicing demon - more like an exacto knife...

I think the best advice would be to buy both, then you can decide which is better - but still keep them both because each is excellent knife in it's own aspects...

    943.

It looks sleeker, it actually looks like something Hannibal Lectar would keep in his pocket, he knows a thing or two about slicing

I'm just fine with S30v steel.

A 940-1 would be awesome but 250 is too much to me for a knife. Only reason I got the 810 is cuz I got it for 120 brand new I couldn't pass that up

Also I was looking into the 746 which I love the design or maybe some of the h&k like the 14715 or 14205. Any thoughts onthese. Again this knife is trying to do everything my 810 wont

Everyone needs a 943...none better for digging out a splinter or thorn. Now if Benchmade would show off and make a M390 version of this blade design..that would be cool.

I like 940 better, because it is thicker in the end. 943 is a bit too narrow tip for me. Yeah, I do prefer tougher knife in thrust cuts. The tip of 940 is plenty for dexterous cuts.

But again, I love Osborne Tanto anyway.

I can see that is being useful, but I am not digging out slivers with a knife. I can do it with a needle.

Yeah. Loonybin and I told you that

I know, you wanted to try owning M4....

The m4 is awesome too I thought by the thickness of the blade it wouldn't cut too well but man was I wrong. The 810 is great very solid too. I think if like to have a 940 to complement the 810. But idk just something about the 943 is really nice

I think I'm going to have to choose the volli over the 940. The thin blade slices unlike anything I've seen

I also like the black Alu and blue backspacer 943 as opposed to the green and purple on the 940. Much better combination IMO.

I been carrying original 940 with green alum handle switched to 943 then 942 then 940 knife if the month with blue alum then 940D2CF & 941D2CF.
I bought a few 940-1s and few gold class 94xs too
Love Osborne design handle and prefer the American tanto blade but the 943 is PC friendly

Since the 940-1 is only being made for a year, I truely expect to be buy 941-1 next year
Buy both & enjoy Regards to all Bill

My opinion - If you are only looking at the blade (not scales, colors, etc). Then for cutting tasks the 940 is hands down the best. The 943 is a nearly straight blade, almost like a dagger. Great for stabbing, anything you need a sharp point for (splinters). I have a 943 for opening mail, the point is good for getting under the flap of the envelope. I have 3 940's I carry for EDC cutting tasks. If you need to consider non weapon looking blade (for office/public use) then the 943 looks more like a weapon than the 940 and the 940 is less offensive looking. I am not saying the 943 is a weapon, it just looks more like a weapon compared to the 940.

If you are going to put down the green for either I would go for the 940-1. This is a gold class worthy knife at a very reasonable price for what you are getting. Especially compared to the cost of a stock 940.

Do we know this? Last I remember reading, the 940-1 was a production knife. Having said that, lots of great knives have had short production runs. Jason, can you clarify?

Honestly I went and handled all the 940 series and idk just seems like a really tiny knife. I love my 810 and most people look at it like I'm crazy for carrying something that big but honestly if your a bigger guy like my with big hands it's easier to hurt urself with a very sharp tiny little knife because of it's small size. I think I might have to pick the volli over 940. My gf wants the 940 I might get it for her so I can play with it ha

To me, 94X series is not like other (810,950, 710, etc.) in feeling of holding the blade. I am picturing myself like holding onto 1/4" metal rod. It is light weight blade that makes it feel really like extension of your fist.

    As usual, YMMV.

I say if you are a fan of the bigger knives, more power to you. I do have one 94x, but it is my smallest knife and an exception. I carry it when I have to wear city boy clothes. I usually won't go with anything smaller than a 551 Griptilian. I usually roll with a 710, 806 or even a 520.

Actually, I bet if you held a 940 and a 943 side by side, the edge profile would be almost identical. The 943 does have a finer point obviously, and I like the more classic blade shape.

It's a design I definitely consider lithe, but I get pretty good grip from the handle, and I think the knife is surprisingly strong with the Al handle. It is a near perfect folding tactical paring knife.

The edge profile of my 940 and 941 are absolutely identical. What a nice optical illusion!

Yes sir. The 940-1 is an inline production knife. It will NOT be discontinued at the end of the year.

Great news - thank you. In spite of complaints about the screw length and some centering and grind issues that happen with production knives (and this is a production knife, not a Gold Class knife that's finished one at a time), this is a GREAT knife and a great step forward by Benchmade. S90V in a regular production knife is exceptional, and this one has performance, and looks, to match.
