Rainbow Ti Perplexity

Hey Men,

I have this LE Benchmite 3100-401 with the Rainbow Anodized Ti Scales, and the Levitator side looks like the dang Ti Anodization has been wiped off???

It is unused, un-carried, new in the box.

Any idea how this may of happened?

Anyone else have a similar experience with Rainbow Ti?

Thanks for any feedback--I am perplexed about what the hay happened.

Did you buy it from a dealer or a private party? It looks like it was sanded off, but if it was from a dealer, then I would say it didn' get anodized correctly. Send it in for warranty work and they should fix it.

From what I remember reading in the past, anodizing is just changing the surface color and therefor will wear off over time. I'm no tech by any means so I can't even begin to explain any how's or why's. If this is wrong in any way I apologize. This is just what I remember.

The picture you have is definitely pretty extreme. I could see it ending up like that with a lot of use from all the rubbing of the thumb, but if it's new I'd say there is a problem. As loonybin said, send it in for warranty and they should take care of you.

No wear marks or scratches of any kind.

No signs of use of any kind.

Bought from a very dependable old timer who said it was NIB and never carried.

Looks like the finish was dissolved with a chemical maybe???

Maybe someone swapped the one side out with a std model? Making (2) rainbow knives?

Simply a weak, messed up anodize job...weak solution, low voltage, something like that. Seller shoulda owned up to it.
