I was just wondering this myself. I have mixed emotions about this one. I love his designs and I like the knife overall. I actually don't mind liner locks at all. I'm not sure about the handle or how practical of a knife it would actually be to own, but I am anxious to have it in hand and decide if it's right or not. 0 -
I have to admit that I didnt know what this knife was ......
I found out and ........PASSING on this one.
This one looks as though its marketed for the mall Ninjas ...... no offense , to each his own.0 -
I hear what you're saying. It is definitely not as subtle as some of his designs. Though some of them do kind of hit you on the head like a ton of bricks. I think a case could be made that any knife with a tanto style blade is dancing on the edge of looking mall ninja. Some pull it off better than others. 0 -

I'm right there with ya dj. Frankly, a lot of the new customs these days are sporting blade shapes that are down right fugly. Goemetric tanto tip coupled with some weird shingle knife negative radius semi-circular section...it's an atrocity. The only thing missing is a chisel grind.
Maybe being too frank, but the blade and handle are both very Emerson-esque, to my mind, and not the classic Emersons either...I've come to regard recent Emerson designs as lawn trimmer blades.
Add a liner lock to that, and...well...
I really like the stacked handle scales though. Very cool!
But like you said, to each his own, no offense intended. I am all about Benchmade, and all about Shane Sibert. The 7505 is incredible, the Adamasi are fantastic. The 757 will probably wind up being one of Benchmade's all-time best sellers.

I seriously thought this was one of those Ebay fakes with the Benchmade logo stuck on. This is one knife I will not even buy even if I see a good price for one on the secondary market. It looks awful to me. 0 -
I like it
I dont know if I am willing to shell out the money for it but it does have Steven Segal.Ish appeal to it.
But then I also like the Bedlam.

Hey, I like this knife. May not be smooth line as drop point, but what the hey...
Wait, no AXIS lock?!!

I definitely generally prefer a more subtle look, but I do like his designs typically and the main reason this one had me interested is because out of all the Emersons, the CQC15 looked the most interesting. This reminds me of that, but has the advantage of being Benchmade

Apparently there was a fair amount of feedback on the blade shape. It has been changed and is much more subtle. Product page has been updated. 0 -

looks like they sure did. still give them props for designs outside the box, but that original design was puzzling to say the least. still not getting the liner lock though. i can't even use liners anymore due to axis.0 -
Knifeworks is taking pre-orders now for the knife, should be in stock soon. S30v blade... 0 -

Okay, NOW I have to try one, even if it is a liner lock. Too many other cool and interesting design bits going on there. Very interesting knife.

I like both blade shapes and the new one seems like an Ares on steroids ...cool blade shape

Archer...this design is too wild for me. I'm holding out for a Bedlam.

Every time I see a Bedlam, I slap my forehead and go
"Dang!! Why don't I have one of those?"
I need to fix that one of these days.0 -
wow it looks so much better. damnit! I'll have to get one now. 0 -
Awwww. I liked the older blade profile better
Anyone one the has the older 'complex' grind version they went to get rid of, PM me...

I like the stacked G10... 0 -
While not the knife I would have designed, there is a lot to like. Almost 4" blade, not too thick and R hand Tip up only! (Those things are important to me)
Looking forward to trying it. The original blade shape turned me away but this one looks useful. K-Barish in nature.0 -
I may have to try this 0 -
Did the name of this knife strike anyone else as unusual? A Vicar (pronounced vicker) is usually a man of the cloth...meaning a minister or priest...even the Pope is considered a special Vicar, but the word is used in other religions too. It is related to the word vicariously...meaning standing in for someone else.
I don't actually have a problem with the name, but it is interesting. I guess a deputy could even be considered a vicar for the Sheriff.
This knife is actually a vicar for the first version that had the ugly blade. LOL0 -
YMMV alert... Not a fan...looks like it was designed with a 2D CAD program. But hopefully it will work out OK for Benchmade and folks with different tastes in folders.

I feel exactly the same way, MCM. I like the edge profile now, very utilitarian, lots of straight edge, lots of belly in the sweep. Bunches of cool design features, the blade fuller, great steel, looks like a mildly ribbed G-10 spacer, traction ridges UNDER the edge of the handle scales, stacked two-tone scales. Looks hard duty in spite of the liner lock. If I have any problem with the spine profile, it should be easy to modify...
In its original blade shape, it was definitely a new direction for Benchmade, would have provided fans of the avant gaurde, or anyone bored with the usual knife, something to widen the boundaries of their collections. Sorry, Lightning.
Not sure what to make of the name...maybe vicar for a firearm or a fixed blade for times when open carry isn't practical?
Got mine on pre-order. Looking forward to it.0 -
I'll have to see it in person but I think it looks nice. 0 -
"We're gunna have to let ya go...", says The Year 2016. 0 -
Certainly this design got lots of feed back.
As mention above it looks like an Emerson CQC-15.
I like the looks of the fuller on the blade though no practical value added other than the visual appeal. The handle is too over the top theatrical like it was made for the next Robocop movie.
While I prefer several Emerson's over the CQC-15 I pick it every time over this. I just envision a
GI pulling this out & the Unit laughing their tails off at him.
No one laughs at a CQC-15.
This should have had an Axis lock.
Waiting on 943-1!0 -
I laugh as they use the letters QC in the name.
Something they need to work on IMO.0 -
I like the Vicar quite a bit, good size, weight, and shape, plus feels decent in the hand.
And I like that BMK went a different direction and tried something different with the look.
Plus I notice a different clip, with the 'head' shape that matches the layers of the scales and handle. I like it, a nice detail that I am sure many people will miss.
I will very likely buy one, if for no reason other than just to show my support for the effort to move away from the herd of typical designs and try something a bit different.
But I do really wish the original blade grind was available...0 -

You know, it is interesting that Benchmade swapped the blade profiles so late in the release cycle...there have been a number of models with both a MDP and tanto blade profile available. If the Vicar is popular enough, it could happen.0 -
My only issue is the color. I don't get the green layer. Maybe if it was all black or desert tan or some type of multicam I would love it but I'm not buying a black and green knife. OD green yes, that color no. 0
