They are a great knife that was a Tanto design and D2 Steel.

Personally I just loved there G-10 Scales and found them a better design with better ergonomics than the regular Valox 585, but I think that the Tanto is what really let them down as more people would have preferred a regular blade like on the standard PE 585..

But over all they where a good solid knife that felt great in the hand, with just a fraction more weight to take up the recoil of the spring assist....

Thanks, it's good to know that you are satisfied with this knife. I am going to order one. Valox does not appeal to me either.

I have the full size Warn and it works like a champ. I can't speak for the mini because I don't use them but if it's anything like the full size, you will not be disappointed.

I'm almost with Bo'B, I really enjoy carrying mine. I've written a couple of posts about my appreciation for this under-appreciated knife. I think the big Warn is equally under-appreciated, and I enjoy carrying it too.

The cool thing about the Mini Warn is that it is EDC size, with BIG nasty knife attitude. The Axis assist, the snarly looking rake of the tanto blade shape and the partial serration, just make it look mean and fast, like a ferret.

And of course it is a great knife from form, fit, finish, and function perspective. Great ergonomic design, great materials - D2 steel, G-10 scales. It is just an awesome little knife.

It is not your grandaddy's old Trapper that you can use to clean a trout or skin a deer, but it is a great little "tactical" EDC.

This was my first Benchmade and it still gets carried a lot, this thing is a tank and the D2 has been great. The only issue I have had is that it is almost too assisted and the left hand thumb stud has engaged the knife pulling it out of my Dickies. I keep the safety on most of the time for this reason but I saw another member that made his single sided thumb stud and I am going to try this soon.

I have to admit that the one thing that attracted me to the 587-1 was the shape of the scales and that they where G10, also the RED back spine really gave it that Black Widow look...

I am not a D2 steel fan but the Tanto's blade shape was very sexy shall we say (IMO), I just dont like D2 steel and would have prefer if in 154CM and with a Standard PE Blade like on the 585.

I did own two but they were for a custom scale project that I was doing at the time and I ended up with a couple of the scales left over, one is on a friends 585 and the other is still im my safe on a FP 585 that I have never used....
    Wink

I did carry one for a couple of days but not for Tactical reasons, just to see what other uses the Tanto was good for and surprisingly I found it excellent for other uses (like tracing around patens to cut leather)..

Here's mine (top) with my Mini Barrage and a Leek.

I switch between the Warn version and the Mini Barrage for my EDC. I gave the Leek to my son.

I like the way G10 feels. I like tha Tanto blade and the D2 stays sharp.

The 587 and 585 make an awesome two knife EDC rotation! I admire that kind of dedication, wish I could be as devoted, really give a great knife the love and attention it deserves.
