Tell me about your 707....
The internet seems a little quiet on this one (as I spent, you, know, 3 minutes looking), but figured this may be the place to ask. I am looking for a "small" knife. For whatever reasons (brick-in-pocket-feel, uncomfortable with weight, thickness, whatever) I sold or traded my Mini-Barrage, and my Nakamura 484-1. Looking through the catalog, I see the 707. Small. Light. Thin. Just might work.
Go home, scan internet. Not much there. Found one "review" where the writer didn't seem to care much for it. Didn't like the feel of the handle, blah, blah, ...
Sure, I would prefer m390, S30V to the 154 or whatever it has, but for an occasional small carry, maybe this could work. So before I actually get off my butt and go check one out somewhere, any thoughts here amongst the knife-wise?.....

The 707 is a small knife, but it is quite amazing how much blade they packed into that handle. It's a great little knife. 0 -
I really like the 707... It's been around forever. There's a reason it's still in the line.
You might do a little hunting around for a 707-1201. Blue anodized aluminum handles with a carbon fiber inlay, and M390. MSRP was $230 for satin SKUs.
That being said, the regular 707 is pretty good just the way it is, too.0 -
I don't use my knives often enough to give a thorough review but it's definitely in the top 5 on pocket comfort. Personally it's my favorite knife to carry. 0 -

I saw those. Found 2 on eBay going for close to $400. Out of my comfort zone, even though it's exactly what I would want. Oh well.....0 -

Perfect for the office, formal occation or any other environment where a larger knife might make others uneasy.

I love the 707. I don't own one because I've been on a larger blade kick recently. If I want'ed a smaller edc, the 707 would be seriously considered. I really like the aluminum scales. 0 -
The 707 is a super knife and I think it would fit what you are looking for, much thinner and lighter than the 585 & 484.
However, another knife that would fit the bill and perhaps even better is the Osborne 960 The standard versions were the 960SLV & 960RED which came with an aluminium frame, G10 inlay and D2 blade steel.
They are light thin and very ergonomic in the hand and pocket, though the pictures wouldn't necessarily lead you to believe so. IMO if looks were not deceiving it would still be in the line.
Most of the limited versions have a stainless steel frame and IMO don't have as good a feel and balance to them.

When I was working in an office environment, I carried my 707-701 regularly. It is a very nice gent's knife. You only get a three finger grip, but there is plenty of blade, and you can do a lot with it. It has all the strength and reliability of any big Axis lock. Great pocket knife. 0 -
Look up the discontinued 770 Osborne. That's an oldie but goodie.

Po said it best, only a 3 finger grip, but amazing blade shape! If only it were a tad longer, it'd be perfect... But then I guess you'd essentially have a 940.
Gave one to the little lady, who loves it and uses it in an office environment. Not at all scary to the uninitiated.0 -

Another one you might want to look at, if you are happy with D2 and want a slightly smaller knife than the 707, and still have an Axis Lock - is the H&K Mini Axis 14716?
On a side note, I know the prices of BM went up a year and half ago when they changed their discounting policy, but when did the 707 become the price that it is now? The H&K are bargains ;-}

I was thinkin' the same thing, Rob. The Mini HK Tiny Tactical is one of my favorite pocket knives, sans clip. Same solid three finger grip, same overachieving blade, slim handle. It has a strongly tactical appearance compared to the 707, but one of my very favorite smalls.

If you're looking for a small, discreet knife try a 485. It's as close to a 770 as anything in production. It's not a heavy use knife, but it won't alarm most shepple. 0 -
My 707 in green scales and D2 blade (it was a limited for Sportsman's Warehouse years ago) is my most carried knife. I wasn't interested in 3" blades before the company I work for restricted knives to that, but I'm really happy it led me to this knife. Just an all-around performer, well balanced, solid and the blade feels much larger than it is.
I like the 960 as well, but I want to say it's similar to a 940, but slimmer (so closer to a 3.5" than a 3" blade.)0 -
The blade on the 707 is larger then it looks folded. Light weight, easy on the pocket and an Axis lock. No need to scourer the Internet for a special edition. The catalog item is fine as it. 0
