It appears that they no longer list any of the discontinued models Those listings were very useful when researching a used blade. The site does seem to load much faster though.

I agree. That was very useful to have all the info on discontinued models. I haven't had time yet to look at the new site but if that is gone that is disappointing. 0 -
They should have a virtual museum on the site, with ALL of the discontinued models included. 0 -
A history/museum section would be great, but unfortunately probably a low priority as it's unlikely to drive new sales.
On the upside, parametric search ("gimme every drop point blade in D2 under 3.5") and fast load times are great to have. These were key areas where the old Benchmade site was outclassed by nearly every major competitor. The virtual factory tour has got to be great PR for new BM enthusiasts.0 -

Shirts / Caps / Etc. are gone. 0 -
The custom knife builder still doesn't work with any known web browser... 0 -
I just customized knives and added them to the cart in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. What browsers do you know?
0 -
Currently, Chrome Version 45.0.2454.93. Doesn't work. Won't add any text or design to the blade, image uploads can't be resized on blade, freezes on handle colors.
Don't have FF.
IE 11 allows me to upload an image, but won't allow any re-positioning or sizing.0 -
The site is fast, I'll give it that, but where are the model numbers. Say I want to look up some specs, I never go looking for that "one full size knife with the silver bolsters in the Barrage Family", I go and look at the specs on a 581. Much more specific. When I want to order knife I do it by model number not family name. If I want to see how the serrated black blade looks on an APB I can do it by simply putting in 665SBK and have it right there, not cruise through the "family". I say add the model numbers back in, and a Discontinued/History/Museum section for reference is MUST HAVE! It was mostly built already, just link it in, in the small print down at the bottom or something. OK I said my peace. 0 -
Change is hard. I was very comfortable with the old web site.
One aspect I liked was knives like this one or something like that at the bottom of page.
Not being rich I try not replicate my knives by small degrees.
No safe queens here. I have what I think are the top ten BM knives. One for every occasion.
Just as an example I was looking at the 665.
It's different. Blue and black like my 1401's and assisted.
But no suggestions for other BM knives like it.
I miss that.0 -
The current Gold Class line-up is missing from the new site too. I also prefer being able to look at specific model numbers when browsing new knives. Makes it much easier to search for the specific configuration that I want when I get ready to buy one. I know the old site had some quirks with the "search" feature, but aside from that, I liked it much better. 0 -
I mirror the sentiments on the disco models, I was there all the time before the change.
But my biggest wtf...
Where's the bloody Gold Class knives???0 -
Maybe it's just not done yet? A lot of the things mentioned have nothing to do with selling production knives, which is the first priority. Now that that's up and running, they would have time to go back and work on adding some of these things. 0 -
eeh...
I think for the mass public it is more user friendly. Like the "family" section which allow you to configure a knife.0 -
Yeah, I'm definitely hoping that they add everything back. I browse the discontinued and gold class stuff all the time, as well as looking at the new model stuff. The only thing I've never indulged in is a custom shop purchase. Hopefully it was just a matter of getting the new site up with the ability to sell knives, and we'll see everything added as we go.
Maybe Jason or someone from BKC can chime in with some insight.0 -
There will be some more development done on the website. I'm not sure what that will entail (not my department), but I'm sure they'll be positive additions/updates.
As of this point, we're pretty pleased with how it's functioning overall.0 -
Jason the full web site must not come up on the iPhone as I don't have the link to the Forum showing 0 -
The more I look at it, the less I like it. And I really hate to be that negative because I know someone worked hard on it, but I think honest feedback helps to improve things, so here's my thoughts...
The family breakdown is fine, but I would like to see a list of every available configuration in each family, not have to go through the builder several times to see what's available for each specific knife. The way it is now, it's easier for me to look at the catalog than the website.
It would also be nice to have a central place of seeing what current Gold/Limited/Exclusives are available. If the general public is unaware of certain knives that are currently available, then they can't buy them. That could lead to lost sales on the retail level and in turn, lost orders from that retailer since their stock didn't sell.
And of course the loss of the discontinued listings is a disappointment to me. Being new to knives, I've been trying to play catch up and grab some older ones to add to my collection. That has no direct impact on sales of current models, but it does leave me in a position of having to scour the web to find info on those knives, which gets rather time consuming and frustrating, which leads me to be less motivated about knife collecting. Just sayin, me personally, when I get bored with something, I move on to something else. So in my case, it could eventually have an impact on current models.
I may not be a representation of the average Benchmade customer, but that's my 2 cents anyway.0 -
Cory, I am on the opposite end of knife collecting - OLD!
I like the way the new web site looks but everything you said would enhance the site.
Thanks for the review & listing what would make it even better. Regards, Bill0 -
I'll agree that the discontinued knives section will be missed. It's helped me immeasurably over the last couple of years. Other than that, not to bad! 0 -

We're currently in process of trying to bring this feature to the new website. Please bear with us in the meantime and we certainly appreciate the feedback!0 -

Thanks for the update.0 -
it may also help to get the word out for the resellers who've partnered up for exclusives to include the particular models in the slide show on home page. I seem to recall this being the case with old site anyway. 0 -
Can anyone see "discontinued" models? 0 -
kinda hard to find model numbers on some of the models. The model numbers don't appear on the product pages for those that have multiple versions like the 908/909. 0 -

Necroposting to see if there's been any update on this. As Benchmade continues their evolution, having a place to see all of its history would be an amazing resource for enthusiasts and customers, but also a PR opportunity to showcase the great work you've done over the years.
It doesn't even have to be on the main site. E.g.: http://global.canon/en/c-museum/
Thanks!0 -

Great call on digging up this thread!
Seconded in every way.
I was just looking at the thread about boron clips and PM had to reference a couple Midway and Cutleryshoppe pages. It would be very cool to see this stuff all organized by BKC.0 -
There's this...

But I'm not sure how well it works or what all is available.0
