I like it, however not sure it will rival the 710 though. 0 -
I'm in for one for sure, but take the place of the 710.... umm no, not so much. 0 -

Agreed.
I'm just thrilled to have such a slim, lightweight 4" AXIS lock folder to carry.
And some custom CF will only shed more weight off an already perfectly acceptable 3.2 ounces.
Also, this 417 has a blade that would greatly excites me to imagine it with a very acute edge, with an extra pointy tip. The slender spear point is very attractive to me. It doesn't have the belly or recurve of a 710 for utility, but it does still offer a generous cutting edge and needle tip. The knife's slim, lightweight skeletonized handle means I'm much more apt to carry a larger folder in situations where I normally may not. For me, that's always a plus. I think this 417 has the potential to be a really great large sized gentleman's folder, if dressed up in something other than aluminum... I think it's a great design in excercising weight reduction in larger 4" knives. I feel this folder was needed from BM. I'll need to get it in hand though to see how it feels, and actually use one for a bit before I make a decision about how much I like those handles, but as of right now, I'm very excited to pick one of these up.0 -
Oh!
And I'm quite happy that BM has decided to add a DLC coated lock bar & deep-carry pocket clip to the 417 Fact...
Like, really happy!!

Me, too. A lot of folks here have been asking for something like this.0 -
This is the new knife I'm most excited for, but I really hope the scales aren't as rough as the aluminum on the 520. 0 -

They're blasted with a different media and then etched after anodize, so they're actually smoother than you'd imagine.0 -

Every knife I look at, I think "What's the potential for custom scales?"0 -

For sure, Bill. This Fact with some G10 or micarta would be terrific.0 -

Will check it out at Shot show in a couple weeks.
Should do well. . . Am not an S30V fan at all though.0 -

I probably wont, I usually have multiples of the models I take a special liking to.
Looks like a "Sicario's" folding knife

No shame in being a steel snob.
I am always hopeful for M390.
The 417's current S30V blade sure won't stop me from picking one up though.
No doubt in my mind that this is a new model that will sell quite well.
Still wishing for M390/M4 one day though.0 -

Thanks, Marty.I too am thinking on picking it up. The blade being narrow, a la 710, having S30V, tougher stainless steel seems to be a good start.
One of those days, M390/M4 may be one of LE offering down the road. Having CF scale won't hurt.

I just can't decide whether I want the satin or black blade on this one. 0 -
Handle Thicknes: Under 50". Nice!
Closed Length: Darn near only .25" longer than blade length?! VERY impressive.
Weight: 3.24!
Custom Scale Potential: limitless and easy. (C-tek would make great use of the lightening slots).
Looks like a winner to me!0 -

Bump.
I’m really, really excited for this one.
I can’t stop dreaming up prospective ideas for custom scales.
This is gonna be awesome!
