580-1102 Barrage initial cost/current value?
Hi guys. I'm working on a trade for this knife, and I'm just wondering what Benchmade asked for it, and approximately what it's worth now.
I can't find any info on it other than that they only made 50.
Thanks!

Well a brand new 581 is about $180-$200...
This is a fairly rare LE though...I dunno...I might pay $250 for it if I had been searching for one. I think you could get that if you find a buyer who really wants it.0 -
I own 22/50 and it was in the $200+ range, if I recall. The black G-10 scales really made the difference along with the M390 blade, and was worth the extra $$. 0 -
I would say depending on the condition being NIB and everything with it between the $225-$250 range would sound about right to me..

I think this one and the 581 are two different knives. This one limited to 50 versus 1000 pieces for the 581.
Thanks for the quick replies guys. The knife is nib with everything included, even the little blue axis lock note that goes under the clip.
Hopefully it pans out. I may try to throw an extra knife in the box for the guy.0 -
It also comes with a sheath. I have mine around here somewhere lemme see... 0 -
Oh here it is 25/50...Still in it's original unopened shipping box. Guess I can't take close ups.

Oh yeah, of course. I just thought of the 581 as being the closest thing you could currently find on the market to compare value to. If a G-10 and M390 581 would cost me $180+ then a G-10 and M390 580 might cost me about the same, or a little more due to the LE.0 -
Po- gottcha... That makes perfect sense. I hope you dont think i was underestimating your knowledge. You guys consistently amaze me with your understanding of all things Benchmade.

The $179.99 that Neuro posted for his was the CAD equivalent. By the time conversions and shipping worked in, I'm fairly certain I had $220 in mine. I had both 14 and 17 in my hands at one point because I got one for another person overseas and shipped it to them. I can't remember which one I had, but I know I only owned it for several months and sold it to finance part of a vacation last year. I believe I posted mine for $230-240 range. 0 -
I picked up one of these when they were available but I was not a fan of the 580 blade. So I bought a 581 and swapped the scales. Now I have an all G-10 581 that I have dubbed a 581-1102.
Here's a pic

I did the same thing, but with a 581BK blade. Later, I decided I liked the 581BK blade in the original Valox 580 handle scales, and that is the way I've been carrying it ever since. It is one of my favorite users.
I currently have a 583BK blade in the G-10 scales. That's a PE tanto. I like this combo too, but think I will like the 583SBK tanto blade from a Warn Tanto better. Just waiting for the time to swap the blade out.0 -
I have the same version Bob, although it was created by Benchmade's tech side; I got mine with the original M390 blade, but it was warped so they replaced it with one for a 581...this is one of my favorite knives: 0 -
I also have one in my collection, with it limited only to 50 it is as Joe says a very small club...
But I would still stand my estimation of $225 to $250 NIB, but like anything that is all it is an estimation and who knows what the real market is on them until one sells.0 -
I much prefer the high flat grind on the 581 blae to the 580 0 -
The deals done, I'm just waiting on it to arrive. If it doesn't kick the Rift out of my pocket it'll be going up for sale to fund another knife.
Thanks for your help!0 -
And so it begins........

There are more than 1000 581s out there. 1000 pieces is just the first run.quote:Originally posted by Neuro:

Whaaat? Why are you doing that?quote:Originally posted by Carson:

I guess that was me.But it was #37.
So you had #14.
Only time will tell what it's worth in 5-10 years.0 -
Mine didn't come with a sheath as neuro suggested. I have mine listed for sale as complete... can anyone confirm that it should or shouldn't include this? I don't want to misrepresent myself or my item!
Thanks guys0 -
It was originally slated to come with a sheath but with BM and LE's things change all the time.
Since, I haven't opened mine I can't confirm either way.0 -
Thanks bud,I appreciate it.
