Since this discussion for this knife was started on a different topic i'll just bring it here
This is a very nice looking Gold Class. It also happens to be of my favorite BM model. The price seems a bit high to me. I was thinking this should be in the $500 range like some of the other Ti GC knives. anyone care to comment?
Thanks,
JD0 -
The GC knives with a Devon Thomas Damascus blade have always been priced higher than a damasteel blade. Still wasn't expecting that price though. 0 -
Yup, the blade is nice, don't get me wrong, if it was $5-600 I would pick one up and toss it in the safe for keeping...
but for $950.00, I would much rather pick up a new sig or (2) glocks lol0 -
my first comment was a joke this knife is WAY over priced!!!! 0 -
She sure is a beauty though.
I'd gladly pick one up if it was in the budget.0 -

Will authorized dealers end up getting them? They look like they are only available on BM website. Full-retail
Maybe they'll drop the prices (a tad)0 -
Wow
Gorgeous knife, steep price.
BTW, me thinks we got a glimpse of the blade & pocket clip from Mikey about a month ago in the WIPs.
Keep the sneak peeks comin

I did not see only 100pcs. it should go for $600-$750 at most good dealers. 0 -

that's what I was thinking too, the new Gold Class 51 is about 20% less than MSRP, I really don't know anyone who pays full retail, unless you are super new and don't realize...0 -

This is true but that still puts it at almost twice the price of some of the other GC folders.

Has anyone picked one up yet?
Wanna see some non-website pics

Not sure if these have shipped yet.
Price while no fun, is middle of the road for GC. There have been some lately priced lower than normal, then there are those that are higher. We seem to be forgetting about those.

I have had quite a few & traded them for other non GC knives. Looking back, It would have been a good idea to collect 'em all, But I typically buy & keep just the knives I really like, rather than a series such as all GC. Would have been nice though to have bought & kept 'em all. Would have made for a neat collection.
Am sure several folks collect only GC.
While others venture off into buying customs.
Lots of options on the other side of $500.00
This looks like a really nice one.
Will see if I can find one.
Will post pic's if I do.
Lots of folks here buy GC, so pic's will show up as soon as they ship.

I had seen those GCs that you posted links to. I also tried to figure them into the equation of the 581-131 pricing. They all seem to be on the very high side due to some of their components: Paua shell, handmade sheath, damascus blade and handle, etc.
The 581-131 seems to fall into the material category of the current GCs that have been priced lower than normal. At least to me the 581-131 has more in common with the 480-131, 470-131 & 940-121 than it does with the 3 you had listed above.

Just ordered one from a dealer, I think they're fairly cheap IMO.
I wish there was a Damascus mini Grip with titanium or carbon fibre scales though.0 -

I’m very choosey with(I’ll pick up 1/2 of any future 940/943
variants for sure)
The 581-131 would be great to have and store away.. but to drop that kind of dough, you need to at least like the overall blade.. Something about the Barrage never pulled me in..
Can’t wait for more Osborne variants (810 especially, hope they do something crazy with that one). Wish I started sooner on the 940’s - wouldn’t have picked them all up, just a few of the greats0 -
I have never seen a Gold Class Benchmade knife in person before, so it would be really cool if I ever got the chance to hold my 581 with M390 steel next to the 581-131 to see and feel the differences.

So Whats the best price people have found on this knife?
No links or dealer names needed. Just curious.0 -
Man BM likes their stuff. Thats about a $550.00 MSRP knife, selling in the $400.00 range in the knife world.
Plus a run of 100 pieces.......................... I will pass
To bad for that price you could be rocking Hinderer Quality goodness with extra bling. A true custom, or piece of knife artwork for that matter.
But hey, its in the eye on the beholder. At least BM is aiming in the right direction for the modern day knife buyer, they do have some nice features on that barrage.0 -

I gotcha, I was trying to say that it should have a MSRP of 550.00.
It does read a little funny in my post, because it doesnt really say that until after the 400.00 range. My bad0
