What is this?
I found this on Ebay , and it was listed as a challenge coin. It looks like a bottle opener to me. Is this something Benchmade had made?

That is very cool! Was looking at the coins for the respective services and couldn't for the life of me figure out why Department of Homeland Security was on there and not the United States Coast Guard. Then it hit me, when everything was reorganized after 9:11 Coast Guard was placed under the operational control of Homeland Security, if I'm not mistaken. Nice find! 0 -
I think I saw one of these posted on Facebook 0 -

Perhaps it's the physical alternative to Viagra. 0 -
Challenge coins are usually attaboys for doing a good job or accomplishing something. During my Army days when we had military functions that involved copious amounts of alcoholic beverages. Soldiers would present a challenge coin with the rank of the individual who presented the coin. The person with the higher coin would win the challenge and the other soldier would have to buy the next round of drinks. Now days people just buy them for keepsakes.

This coin was presented to me by Major General Charles H. Swannack Jr. 82nd Airborne Div. Commanding General, for escorting him in and out of Fallujah Iraq as we received mortar and small arms fire from insurgents.0 -
Wonder if it was made by Benchmade. 0 -
I think it might have been. I've got this coin from a Rep. of Anheuser-Busch in Iraq. Lot of companies do these things to honor the troops.

The Herd. My brother was in the 173rd. He got out right before Afghanistan. I think he deployed to Bosnia though. Hella pissed he didn't get that mustard stain for Iraq! 0
