Doug Ritter RSK Knife Announcement
I regret to inform all the fans of my Benchmade-produced RSK Mk1 and RSK Mk3 knives that Benchmade has advised us that it will no longer produce these knives going forward. You can purchase existing stock at: http://www.knifeworks.com/Doug...erknivesandgear.aspx
Once they are gone, they are gone.
As you may recall, we do not comment on future knife introductions.

Sorry to hear that, Doug. Hopefully there will be new Benchmade-Ritter collaborations in the future.
Thanks again for all the brilliant work you are doing for us knife evolved humans!

Way nicer blade shape than the standard grip...and the stonewash was excellent too. It will be missed!

...or will it be missed?!

Thank you Mr. Ritter and Benchmade for a fantastic knife.
I love mine (I've got 6).
I will treasure the ones I have and look forward to your next collaboration.
Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to you!
Special thanks to you Doug and all you do for us knife nuts!~0 -
I also wish to express my sincere thanks for an amazing collaboration between two of the greatest ever - Benchmade, of course, but a special thank you goes out to you, Mr. Doug Ritter, for designing such fantastic cutlery, and for seeing that this Canadian boy up north got a chance to own 2 of your RSK Mk3 knives, which have served me tremendously since day 1.
I recommend to those that are without a RSK Mk3: Now's the time to grab one - or more, if you can.
They'll soon be gone, but never forgotten.
Thanks again Mr. Ritter.

The only Grips (mini and full sized) that I deemed worthy of keeping. Might have to order one more just for fun! 0 -
M2 Ritters are legendary status.
Thanks to BM and Doug for a great collab.0 -
Thank you Doug for having Mk1 (Large and Small) as well ask Mk3.
It will be missed.

Almost exactly 11 years ago, I got my very first Benchmade: a full size RSK Mk1. After all these years, and with dozens more Benchmades in my collection, that knife remains one of my favorites.
A huge thanks to Doug for designing a great knife, and continuing to do great work on behalf of knife owners!0 -
My first benchmade was a gift, a 551sbk. Immediately fell in love with the knife platform, but hated the black serrated blade. I started shopping for a plain edge, and found the 552org. That's where it all started for me, from there the love affair with Benchmade snowballed.
I lurked this forum for a few years before joining, but after several members went in on a 552 in M390 for Keyman, I was finally convinced to join the forum.
Thanks for everything Doug.0 -
I wish they would add a Ritter blade shape as an option to build a custom grip!
Thank you Doug for all you do and I hope we see more Benchmade collaborations.0 -
Doug, sorry to hear this. Love my Ritter folders, particularly the Minis.
I hope this is not the end, but rather the start of something new and possibly even improved.0 -
That is sad news indeed
my m4 Ritter has been in my pocket every day since new..probably my favorite...simple & good0 -
Really sorry to hear that. This might be the saddest discontinued product I can remember. I'm glad I caught this announcement though. I just bought a couple more, I didn't really need them but the thought of not being able to get one if I wanted another made me a bit uneasy. 0 -
Loaded up, 20 of them ordered to save for customization. Have never owned a grip before because they always seemed entry level. 0 -

Just bought the RSK Mk3 last month - $120
Thanks Doug and BM for the collaborations.0 -

These are my feelings too ........ Iam thinkin on picking up a couple more myself0 -
I know it is late, but I has hoping for RSK Mk-1 Large with, perhaps oval thumb hole.
Like DOAT and dj, I think I need to buy "spare" for my collection.0 -
I'm very sad to hear this and I'm glad to have a RSK Mk1 in my collection.
Thanks for this knife, Doug.0 -
Might have to go looking for a Ritter in M2....hope to see a new collab in the future! 0 -
It was a good long run! 0 -
I'll keep my favorites.

The fixed Ritter has been my companion on many trips off the beaten path. It's never missed a beat. Light enough to carry and big enough for just about any task. Thanks Doug, for the great design and the Knife Rights work too! 0 -
Dang it, now I gotta find a way to pay off the $396 I just put on a credit card.
That Ritter is so handy I pack one on every river trip due to its great steel come rope cutting rapid turbulence survival...and mayonnaise / jelly / butter spreading convenience of a great fat bellied blade come lunch and bfast at the campground.
I sincerely love that blade Doug. Thanks for a great full flat ground design and quality there.0 -
Question for the group: there were some reports of soft blades in the early run of M390 Ritter Grips. Did that ever get any authoritative diagnosis? 0 -
And for Mr. Ritter - if the relationship has been terminated (by Benchmade), are they planning to continue marketing your blade design on their own? 0 -

I have no idea and Benchmade certainly doesn't share their future plans with me.I am busy on my own future plans and working hard on Knife Rights' efforts, thanks.

I guess a roundabout way of figuring this out is to see who retained rights to that particular blade design.
If it's Doug's IP, Benchmade would need a new agreement/contract, and at that point I'd have to wonder why they discontinued the existing relationship in the first place. If it's Benchmade's IP to do with as they please, the future is harder to predict.
So Doug, is the right to manufacture and sell that blade design exclusive to you?
Thanks for all your hard work with Knife Rights and otherwise!0 -

And will you give the job to another knife maker company ??0 -
