    not sure if serious...

after this past one, from beginning poll that was lacking to state the least, as well as subsequent asshattery that ensued, i prefer not to see another "forum" knife for 5 years... minimum...

Then I guess this isn't the place to mention a dark blue anodized 781 with S90V?

If so, what would you members like to see?

Unlikely, in my opinion, but you never know.

I need an excuse to buy a 698 Foray, be nice to see one mebbe in DLC and forest green G-10 or something...sounds like something we may see at REI soon.

I hope 2017 Forum Knife becomes a reality.
There were prior discussions on this board. Lots of different opinions as to model each favor. Did seem to be a majority who like to see a smaller model as 810 is big & prior Rift was medium sized.
I thought a 707 with blue blue weave CF would be great, but with the 707 discontinued & the Shot Show 707-1701, that not likely a good choice.
Start a poll see if their is a consensus

Not sure about all this with the poll lacking....Discussion and input went on for quite a while before this came to fruition, so it seems like plenty of time was available for input. That said, the 810 was definitely not my first choice.

And "asshatery"? Brother, we have far outpaced that asshatery here in the past couple of weeks.

At any rate, I doubt we'll see one this year, but when we do, I'd really be happy (like Bill Hammer mentioned) with something on the small side. And as mentioned by Po, I think the Foray would be the perfect choice.

The forum knife of 2016 kinda fell out of the availability of some leftover 810-1601 parts. That short circuited the model selection discussions. M390 blades were most likely already available...a lot of the 810-1602 Forum Knife was determined by the possible. I'd like to see a Forum Knife every other year or so.

    a. that doesn't read like a cnn pole; it makes no qualms about its agenda & demonstrates some semblance of thought went into it.

    2. it's as much an op ed to any online resellers looking for ideas on a another limited unlimited collaboration for a well established model that hasn't been driven into the ground and from looks of it will get you your steel in the process.

    c. don't be that guy...

Well I would LOVE for a discontinued model to be used as our next forum knife, I'm not going to be my hopes up, because we were told last time that those are off the table. I can however think of a bunch of in-production knives which lack variants...

We could come up with some pretty cool options...

So, you're saying I should make a house out of Benchmade boxes and camp out on their lawn like a certain other forumite, instead?

Yeah, I have heard that non-production model is non-starter. We went through this last year.

    As Po said, http://benchmadeforum.com/eve/...4690101#670004690101

    /|\ another 950! I'm OK with that & LB's heart is racing.

I really want to like the 950. I really do... but there's just something about the handle that doesn't jive with my hand. I was initially thrown off by the 810's unorthodox handle, but grew to love it. I'll try any knife and give it a fair shot. The Rift just doesn't do it for me, I'm ashamed to admit. I wish it weren't so.

Initially, I had the same feeling. When you hold 950, you should consciously make your pinky in bottom indentation. I got that from Kendo technique. Along with your wrist, use the grip of pinky to pivot a knife.

It made me want to have jimping under index finger. Sort of like turn the Rift like see saw. Does it make sense?

  • martymcfly
Yes, MFL, it does make sense theoretically, and I think that is why I'm supposed to like it. I really can't figure out what I dislike about the knife, it's puzzling. It just feels awkward to me.
