Why the design change. I was glad to see the Cabela's LE is the iconic style & hope all future 94Xs handles follow suit
The 940-2 will be like the Ford 1965 model ( for all too young to remember Ford went from their classic round tail lights to hexagon style)
Does the 940-2 have a moth rather than a butterfly logo on it?
If Wuff & TDOGG agree maybe the 940-2 should be nick named the Moth!0 -

Why NOT try and change the design around?? Gotta keep it fresh. We knew many people would greatly prefer the traditional styling, and it's obviously not like this is a rolling change to the whole family...
Buuuuut a lot of people also responded to the new and fresh twist on an old favorite.

I just got a 940-2 yesterday (I also have an original and 940-1). I rather like it. I think the subtle design changes kind of modernize it a bit if that's ok to say. Though I love the original 940, it has kind of a "western" look to it with that indent. I guess a better way to say it is that the original 940 would match really well with a bolo tie... I don't hate the look of the original by any means, 940s are beautiful, but this is a good "evolution" of the family. I will say I thought it's a little weird to have to Benchmade patent website printed on the blade, but that's ok. 0 -
I think 940-2 has some getting used to for those of us in love with traditional 940. Let's face it, it is the one of the most elegant design.
Having said that, I am warming up with 940-2 as well. I take it as "entry model" of 940. Comparing 940-1501 and 940-2 shows that in capsule liner model with G10 needs to have a bit more toughness to compensate for bending strength of thin G10.
No doubt that BKC will be releasing GC/LE of 940 in the future.

I noticed the 940-1 seems to need more maintenance than the 940D2CF. I think clam she'll handle design is more ridged than slab handle with standoffs. I check & tighten screws more on the 940-1 than clamshell handles0 -

Well, to be honest, I wasn't warmed up to very skinny blade of 940. (My first was Barrage). My wife seems to suggest to me to try it out few years ago. It doesn't have lanyard hole for me so I was not excited to say 940 for outdoor use.
Never the less, I bought it and if I really don't like it, I would give to my wife..
I was wrong on the fact that one day, I needed to dispose 4 inch form mattress. I wanted to "test" 940's ability to cut this unmanageable thick and "sticky" form. I was very surprised that it cut the entire queen size form mattress as if this was hot knife through butter.
Since then, I have renewed respect on 940 Osborne's reverse tanto blade. That 1/4 inch belly blade cuts very well.0 -
only way ill buy a 940-2 is if it is a gold class of some sort with high end goodies 0 -

You guys are killing me. I actually like the 940-2. Perhaps I'm missing out on something being that I've not handled other 940s. I'm not a fan of aluminum scales or grips on pistols and that has stopped me from looking at the other 940. 0 -

Ti on the 94Xs totally changes the balance of the knife.
The extra weight no longer makes it an "air-weight knife". If I am going to carry that weight I want a bigger blade.
I can't say the same thing for the 53Xs. The listed weight on the 531-132 isn't that heavier.
But it weight brings it close to a 940-1 & I am use to the feel of 94Xs handle. It is distinctive as to which side goes where compared to the hour glass design of 53Xs ( yes clip helps figure that out)
I like Ti ( my watch is all Ti) but for handle scales I prefer non- metal CF & G-10)0 -
