Forum knife limited run?
It sounds like a lot of folks wishing for the forum knife.
Shall we start with Model base and Steel? We have heard that simpler the better to have small numbers.

ok Mobile Firelord I'm going to vote but I want both the 940 and 810. Maybe one this year and one next year. 0 -

It was actually tough for me to vote here... There's knives listed that I'd sooner carry than the 808, but it gets my vote, as I feel it needs a second chance, with upgraded blade steel and forum-exclusive handle scales of some kind...
I know I'll be one of the few voting for the 808, but I feel all the other folders listed have had their time in the spotlight for redesign.
I'm confident that most of you would be happy to grab an 808 Loco forum knife if it were released by Benchmade.
I know I would.
Even if it never happens, I'm still waiting to see the next version of the Loco.

I'll admit that although I love the Contego so much, I decided not to vote for it, because I carry my 810-1401 more than any other Benchmade I own. When I weighed it against the other knives listed, I thought to myself "Do we really need another 810 with M390?"
I thought something different would be interesting.

I informally retract my vote and feel that an 810 forum knife is definitely the way to go. I had always said it should be an 810, or a 610. But maybe I lost that flame, and stopped asking for a forum knife when I became discouraged, thinking it just wouldn't happen.
But I feel revitalized once again hearing interest from other members in a forum exclusive 810.
Especially if we get a DLC M390 blade. With carbon fiber?! Enough said.

I imagine M390/S90V (preferably DLC coated), and I'm thinking either lightning strike carbon fiber, or c-tek.
Not sure on the color yet.

Relly love a boxed set of the "3 sisters" ( 840, 96" & 810) if we were swinging for the fences, but if Jason with the 810-1601 handles & a coated M390 blade that a beautiful knife that price would be easier to fit into the budget. 0 -

So far there are two standouts, kind of all over the place though. I wonder if this limited 810 from Blade is what's giving the traction to the 810 holding the current lead? Why do so many of you guys here go in for the biggest knives all the time ?!
I think the forum knife being an Osborne design would be fitting for this year (Yes, yes IF it were to ever happen) The Contego is an either "you like it or you don't" type of blade.
Somebody mentioned a CF 698 which would be really nice too now that I think of it. The 940 is universally liked by ALMOST all but maybe a bit watered down by all the previous exclusives, golds and limiteds.0 -
Considering 940 got the most votes from forum members, I'd say it still has room to grow. If they are going to do a forum knife it should be what forum members want most to a point. 531, 940, foray etc. id like to see it be an edc model or gentlemans knife rather than a tactical folder personally. IMO we are overdue for a true limited numbers gold class Griptilian too. 0 -
This may seem almost sacrilegious here, but I'm pretty much over the 940, and I never liked the 810. My vote went for the 808, because a new, special Lico hasn't been done yet, and that would make it a bit more special and exclusive. Close behind would be a 531. I know there's been several versions of those, but I just think that would be cool. I saw 698 mentioned? Also very cool, but would they do something like this for a knife so new? 0 -

Well with that attitude it certainly won't happen. One of the poll choices was "other" so instead of none of the above, weigh in on what you'd like to see. Jason is active here and has had some dialogue in the 810-1601 thread on running it by product development if we can get a somewhat firm commitment. No reason it couldn't be a different model. It's a lot further than I've seen in the past.0 -
It'd be nice to see the smooth handle profile of the 808 rendered in a unique material. The last forum knife was the Rift, whose detailed milling patterns were cool, but the simpler lines of the Loco would be sweet as well.
That said, any forum knife would be nice to see!0 -

Makes the most sense to me.
Just about all other knives listed come in several editions, so why go through the ringer to try and produce a forum knife when such availability can be had.
It's time for the 808 to get it's turn... I can't think of a forum knife that would be more special.
Po's idea of the DLC M390 blade with a -1601 is in fact "da shiz", and I know it'd make me happy, along with a lot of others. There aren't too many Contego editions circulating... If the -1601 had been more than a 30 pc. run, I might think differently. But I don't even count that model, personally. If you like the 810, you either grab an original, or as most of us have done here, opt for the -1401. Yes, it sports M390, which is why most of us bought it. Handsome scales, no need to really improve on it much, after upgrading the steel and smoothing the edges, it's a well known favorite. What would make it special is a DLC coating combined with carbon fiber. To me, that's totally worth doing. It's a large knife, but a decently slim carry. I love EDCing mine. I understand not everyone will share these views, but to them I say "browse through Benchmade's smaller, gentleman's carry oriented knives. There are a lot to chose from, with multiple editions. Give the Foray some time though...

I had also considered the 531 (that's right, I'm not only into large folders),but it can be had with some amazing upgrades if you venture into the Gold Class.
What's more is that our brother sre1 tells us that there are some pretty cool developments happening this year with the 531...

What do y'all think of using S90V as the blade steel on a forum 810?
You know, just for a different Contego option, if we're trying to make it extra special...

Certain 0nes I would buy ....... we need to get model options out and voted on..... then go from there to get a count of how many would be bought.
I personally would buy an 808 ...... but Iam sure alot of folks would.
