Matt, after this thread went to build a custom grip ( would be a first for me) like you my preferences were :sand G-10, all black hardware. I had to stop as I wasn't sure all my selections were being include( may have to call this in) 0 -

Jason, do you know if they will eventually list an od green g10 option as well?
I suspect that sales of a standard od version would out sell forest green by a wide margin due to its established presence in the knife & firearms-related industries.0 -

Yeah, you have to really want something custom...or at least semi-custom. And you have to have an outlook on the G-10 Grips that they are worth the money. The 551-1 equivalent knife on the custom shop with either black, tan, or forest green handle with no color accents, no anodized standoffs, no deep-carry pocket clip costs $220 plus tax and shipping. That's about $270 to CA residents, virtually $100 more than a 551-1. I just happen to believe that a G-10 Griptilian with premium blade steel is about the best folding knife on the planet, so $270 doesn't shut me down...at least not entirely.
It is a little rough though that on top of charging MSRP, Benchmade charges for shipping. Benchmade charges me tax because they do business in CA, but if I buy a 551-1 from Louisianna, from one of Benchmade's dealers, I don't have to pay tax, and shipping is free. Maybe that isn't Benchmade's fault.
You can get some dam good folding knives for $270. But I think a custom G-10 Griptilian with S30V, or CPM-M4, or CPM-20CV is definitely one of them.0
