New Crusade... AFCK II
There have been a couple of successful crusades we have undertaken here on the forum that led to the 806-901 and the Axis Stryker. I believe the time is right for a revivial of the production 806... If I might have the floor I will state my case.
When we have asked in the past to bring back the AFCK, Benchmade would reply "Our Legacy Knife is the 710..." (or something to that effect) Well the 710 is no more, one could argue that the 940 fills that role but that is more a gentleman's folder. There is a hole where the legacy tactical folder would reside. Also with the 910 full gone (aside from the auto) there is a gap where a classic large tactical folder would reside.
I believe the 806 could give Benchmade a good 2-3 year productive run. Especially if some updates to the handle and steel are made. Development costs should be small and it would also put more spare parts in the pipeline for the older versions. Win for everyone!!!
Here is the crusade...
Benchmade bring back the 806 with updated handle (milled G-10) and a blade steel the knife has not been made in before (maybe CPM 110, 20CV, or heck even S30V). I am in for at least 4.
So here is how this works...
1.) Don't let the thread die, keep it near the top and keep posting to it. Share the thread on social media and such.
2.) I move back into the hut made of spare Benchmade boxes... I do this for you.
So join the crusade and bear the banner high!!!

I'm in!!! 0 -
Am I the only one taking this seriously?
0 -
I'm in no matter what but what does anyone think of a TI version? Axis or framelock? 0 -
Endorsed
Care packages of food and whiskey will be sent to the hut..
The effort is most appreciated, Mark.
Sincerely.0 -
I am SO in.
Especially if there is a Ti AFCK variant.
Of course I'd be down for that...
But I also remember Jason saying something along the lines of " The Crooked River is all you will ever need."0 -
806-1
CF & S90V
And as long as we're at it 805-11 -
SOOO IN!!! quote:Originally posted by Mark G.:

That should be easy enough. Just look what a few of us did with the FIXED Bedlam thread. And it's still around. Heck, there are people out there who think it actually already exists.
But back to the new, upcoming AFCK...IN!!!!
IN!!! IN!!! IN!!!0 -
Mr. President (sre1):
Axis lock or liner Lock, or Ti framelock? Which is preferred?
I think I'd be down for anything.0 -

The only thing I'm President of is the TSEK Thumb-hole Club. President and sole member.
Ti flipper monolock/framelock...with a round thumb-hole would be my preferences.
Fixed it

Yeah, that's right...I haven't seen anyone else with a TSEK like yours.
Ti flipper monolock/framelock
Now we're talkin'!
That's something I'd definitely be into.
And so should Benchmade. They wouldn't have to "revive a discontinued model," but could expand on the original design by tweaking it. Similar, yet different. Kinda along the lines of the Presidio II. Only yeah - Ti framelock with flipper.
That concept needs to be done by Benchmade in some regard, anyhow.
As it stands, the 806 blade gets my vote for that treatment.0 -

I'm down for any iteration, of course. But, alas, I believe the AFCK to be history. With the trouble KW had even selling all of the 805/806-1101 (at a very reasonable price), I doubt BM will resurrect that one. But ya never know...
...so I'm still IN!!!0 -
Just teasing, fellas.
I would be in on any iteration as well. I do trust your visions, sure..Ive seen your work..
W/ that, I would love to see a thick Ti frame/liner lock..(think 426/425/757..thicker even) that pays homage to the original 800...lay on micarta scale..just short of frame (proud liners)...1/2 the run w/ black mic on coated blade, 1/2 the run ivory mic on polished ..
But I would buy any new version...slip joint w/ 420j?..Im in.0 -
I'd buy a few of a new AFCK and not give it a second thought. 0 -
Axis lock. M390 blade. Works for me.

A new AFCK would be welcome any day. S90v and sculpted g-10 or cf anyone? 0 -

Slip joint?! YES! Me, too! ...Advanced Folding Gentleman's Knife.0 -
/|\ so how well do you think this will pair up with a FIXED BEDLAM???

Yes Please... 0 -
BKC have been reluctant with good reason. I'm sure jigs for AFCK be long gone to revive.
Having said that, I too am interested in revival of 806; thumb hole and AXIS lock. I would prefer S30V, 20CV, S90V or M390.0 -
s30v is a rarity, but it's been done. besides, were they to entertain it, go big, or go home; e.g., >= m390
i'm down for a couple if they do a satin and bk version.0 -
Yes, please
How about a full flat grind and 3D scales 806?
1 -
HOH!...and S90V.

I'm in. M390 or 20cv would be nice. 0 -
Alright folks. It would be great to get variants but these things don't work if go too far. Has be as close to production as we can get. Axis lock, G-10... If not we are asking for a totally new knife and that ain't happening. Gotta stay focused. 1 -
Agree with Mark.
* S30V (Plenty available now a days)
* G10 with full liner. I can always request resident scale makers.
I wonder, if the blade is close to Crooked river in dimension, BKC can use similar template and process.0 -
I would buy pretty much any new axis lock variant. I like my beat up 806 a lot, I just wish the scales had a little bit of shape to them. 0 -
Using CF handles instead of G10 should not be a stretch 0 -

As much as I agree that I too want to have CF scales, having more exotic steel or CF may increase initial cost.
Remember, we have few artisans can create custom scales in this forum. Also, when it become more popular, more may follow.
Personally, I would like BKC to re-start AFCK rather than one of Limited Edition. I'm sure it would be easier if the "package" is lower initial cost to produce the folder.
Each model has jig/template and that would be major investment for BKC.0 -

Hmmmm...

Respectfully, I do not.
1) Yes, of course I would like to see the AFCK make a comeback, who wouldn't?
2) When has a Benchmade knife ever been discontinued and then re-released, other than in a LE format?
3) Mark, why do you feel that Benchmade would only produce a knife with "Axis lock, G-10" as a regular production piece? I think we should ask for exactly what we'd like to see...
4) I agree that these knives "we'd like to see" won't realistically be produced if we "go too far". I don't think it's wrong to ask for premium materials, as long as they are in line with Benchmade's usual production price ranges. If it's on the high end of that range, I personally wouldn't care though.
5) I absolutely think that a re-release of an 806 is very, very unlikely (although I'd love to be proven wrong)
6) If we want to see a knife produced which is similar to the AFCK, we should definitely be asking for a new knife altogether, with striking similarities to an 806, such as what some of us were mentioning near the beginning of this thread.
7) In my opinion, it's far more realistic to put together a whole new AFCK- like model than it would be to revive a knife that has long been discontinued.
Sorry in advance, because I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade or kill the mood of this thread. I'm just trying to be realistic.
Of course, these are only my opinions.
Plus, I get much joy from dreaming about discontinued models and current production variants, so have at'er.

/|\ I have an original so why do I want another unless it up scale steel & CF handles ( silver class) 0
