Thanks!
I am missing SHOT this year so this helps a little.0 -
Wonderful news!
I have seen review already by 3rd party in description of new releases. Very excited to see them.

That review has a few things wrong.
A couple points of clarification:
1. The 560/590 handles are actually over-molded Versaflex with a Grivory skeleton. Those sections are not assembled together, but rather one piece after molding. Very similar to the 167/169.
2. The main external portion on said knives is the softer Versaflex, while the "inlays" (the gray sections) are the harder, stronger Grivory.0 -
I would bet that Scott Cook would argue with them saying Lionsteel pioneered the integral frame also. 0 -

Maybe Benchmade could pioneer a way to center an uncentered blade in an integral frame. Lionsteel hasn't figured it out.0 -

I'm so glad you have clarified this. That makes more sense!0 -

Sorry to say it, totally disappointed with the new 2017 line up. New push button autos, tons of OTF's, a "new" Presidio that looks like a 20 year old model... $500 for a single piece Ti frame
No flippers? No new tanks?
Why not collaborate with some new makers?0 -

Immediately noticed these were missing, along with any HUNT offerings, which leads me to further believe we still haven't seen the whole show yet. It's coming, I bet.
I'm trying to be patient...
But it's tough.0 -

I can see why you are upset, but on the other hand, BKC already have released recently. Proxy, Amicus/Arcane for the flipper. Loco and Adamas are the tanks.
From business point of view, I think what BKC did is right on, if I can say so. As disappointed as we may be, that our favorite models are longer in production, we all have them already, right? (Sure, I would like more AFCK models, but I'll not hold my breath on that coming true)
Many of long time enthusiasts already have many variations. BKC has limited resource to produce set of knives that sells well. Some of the exotics don't make profit. You know Fiat owns Ferrari, VW owns Porsche, Lamborghini. My point being that I would like BKC to be successful business and produce many more new models.
Yeah, I feel you guys pain. I'm in for the long run. Who knows, there may be mid year additions.0 -
I'm not upset. Just excited.
I know there'll be lots more knives to be had this year.0 -
I don't really believe there's anything redundant in the 2017 lineup besides the OTFs.
To me, they're stepping up their game this year. If this is only just the beginning, with more knives to come, I'm stoked. Even if I only plan on buying 2 or 3, I like what I see across the board. While there's always room for improvement, BKC has shrunk that room in a big way this year, IMO.0 -

Marty must be looking at a different catalog then the rest of us lol.
I like the Facebook post I saw today the best, "If I wanted an overmolded handle I would buy an F-ing screwdriver"0 -
Nope, just not a pessimist like yourself.
Everything is improved.
I like the lowered price on the 485-171 too, and because of it's upper "silver class" design, I'll actually carry and use it.0 -
Interesting new models. I'll be picking up a few this year for sure. 0 -

I fail to see how Valox plastic and aluminum is "improved"

The 87 is sick! 0 -
I'm quite excited to handle a 781 so I can get a better idea of it's traction, with it's milled chevrons and added texturing up top on the spine of the handle. Looks grippy... Looks awesome too. 0 -

I fail to see where Valox is used at all in the lineup...
If you're referring to a handle made of mostly Versaflex with some Grivory underneath, I'll point out that it's most likely way more comfortable to grip than some past models...
The aluminum models are now constructed from aluminum billet; its a stronger handle.
Again, I've not handled or seen anything in person. So there's that.0 -
I've always preferred G10 or CF to anodized, but I'm looking to prove myself wrong with a 781 and hopefully a Shot Show 707. 0 -
WHERES MY FRAMELOCK ............... LOL

I feel the "lower end" stuff is not too low end at all, and a heck of a value. Even though I can honestly say some of it doesn't speak to me personally, I can see added value, with great pricing. That's where I'm most impressed with 2017's improvements. Great deals on BKC cutlery this year. Still a range of pricing to chose from.
Benchmade take a step backwards?
Fat chance.0 -

Valox, Grivory... both are tough plastic/polymers, and in any realistic use of a knife, the same. I would still take G10 over either one.0 -

Yep... but you get Versaflex in this case. More options. Already have G-10 Grips and Barrages. And a ton of people who complain about paying those prices. There are some good value working knives here, priced well, IMO. There'd be a lot of really peeved customers if it was nothing but expensive premium cutlery across the board.
Plus, how 'bout we handle these knives first before drawing too many conclusions...?
I can't say much more than that...0 -

Which is it
Many of these guys have been around BM long enough to call it like they see it. This isn't a new game either, the price increases, rebranding and up charging. Usually if it doesn't add up on paper 9 times out of 10 it won't in your hand either.0
