Welcome to the Laboratory!
This forum is where we discuss the activities of the Benchmade Special Projects: Test and Innovation Laboratory. We are fully staffed and fully outfitted for both mechanical and practical testing and evaluation. Through rigorous standardized testing we gain a greater understanding of product performance, both Benchmade and our competitors.
“The Laboratory” is where we put the knives through their paces. We will push them beyond conventional testing just to see what would happen. There is a certain satisfaction knowing what it would take to make a knife completely fracture and blow apart, even if it’s not humanly possible to do.

Sounds awesome; I can't wait to see what y'all get up to.
Can we assume that this will not be the only board under the "Special Projects" heading?0 -

I'll do you one better and load photos, videos and data as often as we can. We have a full time test and innovation lab and as we move forward we'll be sharing our tests and findings with everyone.0 -

It would be great to see how BM blades are put to the test. That is why BM are the leaders in the knife business and others are following. 0 -

Peter, I like the tone of your post. The confidence and pride in your work is unmistakable. The only reservation is the last seven words. What you said may not be true when it comes to the people in this forum. Some of them are crazy.

Absolutely. We have several methods for testing different lock styles. We do performance testing of the product, mechanical testing of the components and destructive testing to find the limitations of the design, materials, etc. We will definately be posting videos, pictures, etc of lock testing, and we'll lead off with the axis for certain. more to come...0
