Well we are talking FB here.
I wouldn't believe anything from FB even if poo came from my speakers.

Was that on the BM Knives page?

It was on the Benchmade Knives Group with like 9,000 members. The OP doesn't state where he got the information.

I didn't necessarily believe it, but figured I should ask here.

    Yeah I just read it.

Even if it is true, Ares LEs seem to come out every year. And dare say the LEs are better than standard model. If 710 followed suit I do not think it would be the worse fate.

I don't see them discontinuing the first model to bear the axis lock.

I don't put faith in anything from Facebook. Even if I trust the source. Lol.

    Agreed, completely.

I am sure we can expect to see a handful of models axed next year, to make room for newer models. It happens every year.

But, even if 710 were to meet it's end, it sure has had one heck of a run...

    Say it ain't so.
That would be a sad day indeed.
    Love the 710!

Is what we need to read from Jason (I think he takes the wk end off!)

I can think of other knives that could go away before the Iconic 710

It's a bit early for me to be discussing what's going to be discontinued for 2017 publicly.

This year there WILL be some notable removals from our lineup though.

Ok, I am done rumour mongering now.

No point in guessing, or listening to someones uneducated FB speculation.

If Benchmade axes the 710 to make room for more framelock crap, I just might vomit.

Jason, how long you going to let these guys spin?

I'm looking forward to seeing what's new for 2017. Personally, I'm hoping for a Nakamura gold class since I'm crazy about my Megumi and 484-1.

And of course the Fixed Bedlam.

At the (Blade) Forum luncheon, BM showed us a knife that sure looked like it could replace the Griptilian. I'm not predicting that it will, though. It looked like an updated Grip. I'm not a big Griptilian fan, but I'd sure carry the knife I saw there.

Might make sense for Grips & Barrages with grivory handles to be removed from line up as there in the custom build section.
    Good bye old friends!

I wouldn't mind the loss of the 551 Grip because the 551-1 turned what everyone wanted into reality.
It's like as if BM was listening to us or something! Clack
We may NEVER see this one go since it's I believe BM's entry level price knife. Or lower the price of the 551-1

    TO GO
    1. 550/551/553 Griptillian But not the 551-1
    2.

Heh I don't think you need to worry about the Grips or the Barrages. Those are still incredibly popular.

Nope. I heard 6 more 940 variations are coming for 2017.

    Yeah now that's too funny.
Matt Wulff would hit the roof.

Wonder why they don't bring back super popular discontinued knives. The AFCK comes to mind.

It would be like if FORD brought back a replica 66 Mustang.

Because it's expensive. Heh. Rarely worth the up front cost. But as always, it totally depends on the project. Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances.
