Boron coated clips - return?
They are coolest looking & from years of EDCing one they wear well too.
Or maybe split arrow Ti clips? Thanks

From all the clips I've carried over the years, DLC is holding up the best.. I've clipped my 531-131 to my front right pocket for over a month now, bumping the clip into different surfaces at home/work and not one mark/scratch on the surface.. It still looks brand new. I seriously think BKC should consider DLC'ing their clips.. 'Tis why I sent most of my spares out for DLC application.
Plus, the glossy black DLC finish looks better IMO..

If DLC isn't an option, I also really like black oxide clips.. They have a well worn look, that looks better than their paint chipped counterpart.

Agree, DLC looks great & would be very happy if all Benchmade black clips were DLC coated.
If Benchmade ever used DLC on any of their clips, I am not aware, but boron coated were made in the past, & attributes of DLC as you describe is what I liked on the boron split arrow clip I carried on a 940sCF ( REI LE) for years & the clip still looks good.0 -

Here's a few examples of BKC using DLC on clips:
531-131
556-142
586-141

I tried looking up an example of a boron clip, could you post a pic? What previous Benchmade models came with boron coatings?0 -

Good point, PM. Currently I use satin deep carry clip, because painted one get scratched fast.
I wish BKC carries DLC coated deep carry clip. If not for free I would still order them.0 -
Here are some Boron coated clip examples, courtesy of Bill H. I see what you mean Bill, I'd take the Boron over painted as well. DLC is still my fav though.

For what it's worth, I picked up a couple of black nickel clips from BM at Blade 2015 and those clips wear about like the painted clips - easily chipped/scratched. I installed one on an EDC and it quickly looked like crap. The other one was in a small ziplock with some other clips and even it shows minor scratching from rattling around w.the others.
The clips look really cool when new, but that's about it.0 -
SRE-1,
Both knives / clips are mine the boron clip is worn from being my EDC for 7+ years, but I still think it looks nicer that the other & why I wish I could get a few more.0 -

Thanks for sharing, I've only had experience with DLC, silver TiCN (940-121), and regular satin/BK pocket clips..
So far, DLC seems to be the strongest in wear.. I've only noticed a tiny surface scratch.. The DLC coated Ti scales haven't started wearing at all either.. I'm sold.

How did you outline the butterfly logo?
That DLC coating is between 1-4 microns thick. (25 microns = roughly 0.001").
It's basically not thick enough to fill the logo.0 -

Oh ok, and they don't make them any more.
I posted a thread on Blade forums not to long ago trying to figure out how to do something like that with the current black clips.0 -

That clip is a standard satin deep-carry clip off an 810-1401.. I had DLC applied to it..0 -

Here's a group shot

My favorite DLC application has to be the 53X liners though, so much better than regular satin IMO..
