Hello from a new member
Hi BM Community,
I just signed up with the community and like to say "hello". I recently purchased my first BM knife, a Mini Griptilian and followed that up with a purhase of a standard Griptilian. Great knives! These knives are my first in what I call modern knives. I mainly have Opinels, a Gerber (pre Fiscar) and Victornox knives.

Hi Marty!
Welcome to the world of premium "sporting" cutlery!
You managed to pick one of the very best to start. Next you will need a G-10 and CPM-20CV version - 55X-1.
Cool you are from the Bay Area. I'm in Livermore, myself. There are a few others.0 -
Welcome, Marty!
This is a great bunch. I think you will enjoy it here. Welcome!
I don't have any mini-grips, but after a quick look, I do have 7 of the full-sized Grips. They are a favorite for me.0 -
Welcome! The Grip was how I got started too. 0 -
I appreciated the welcomes, thank you!
Looking forward to expanding my collection now that I discovered Benchmade.0 -
Welcome, sir! It's a good time around here. 0 -
My first Benchmade was also a griptilian. Welcome and don't be afraid to ask questions. There are a lot of wise people here that never seem to tire of answering. 0 -
Welcome Marty.
I've lots of Benchmade knives, no Grips though.
Benchmade was started by a great family who made a premium product.
Check out other models, you'll likely find several you like ( & may find the best knife ever )
The Forum has lots of knowledgeable members & Benchmade forum advisors. Help with knife questions. Heads up on new knife releases. And some laughs.
Enjoy!0 -
Welcome Marty!

If the rest of the folks on here have their way with ya... it won't be your last, either.
Watch out for PO's reviews.. especially if the Grip family appeals to you. They're expensive reviews. Hahahaha!0 -
Welcome.
My first Benchmade was a Mini-Grip also, back in 2004. I try to average about 1 Benchmade per year but sometimes its 20 -
Welcome to the forum Marty.
Yeah it seems that lots of us started with the Grip.
It was my first.
I now have a Doug Ritter, 556-1 and custom Grip scales/handles on a 551 from forum member Keyman.
We have an upcoming forum exclusive knife coming up from Benchmade.
Stay tuned.0 -
Thanks for the welcomes. Very nice community. 0 -

Again, welcome!
Beyond the classic Swiss Army Knives, Benchmade was my first 'real' knife. My mentor gifted me an Ares, and I fell in love. There's a lot out there, but you may find yourself spoiled by the Axis lock. I find it challenging to want a knife with any other locking mechanism.
Have fun!0 -
The axis lock alone is worth getting a Benchmade for. I really like the locking mechanism. For the past 40 some odd years I've only had traditional pocket knives with there various locking mechanism, but none of them compare to the axis lock. So slick! 0 -
