    That's a beauty, Fox. Congrats.

The custom built ones get more careful attention during the build, I think. Better edges too.

    Here's a black handle, satin S30V:

Forest green G-10, grey cerakote, M-4:

I like that satin blade with black G10. Very Nice! I agree, they must get a little more attention. The fit/finish on this knife is outstanding. I can't find one singly little flaw, it is perfect.

Interesting story about this knife. I went through all the options and all I had to do was enter my CC information to order off of BM's website. I decided to check ebay one more time before I placed the order. I found this Gem NIB on ebay. It was apparently used for a photo shoot, and never cut or carried. The only thing different is I was going to order a black arrow clip, and this one has the standard black clip. I saved about $35 getting this one off ebay as it was pretty much exactly what I wanted.

Thanks. There is something kinda classic or traditional or something about black G-10 and a satin blade.

That's amazing you found a custom on ebay. I think I've seen only one or two custom Grips or Barrages on the sale forum here...

Yeah, I couldn't believe it myself. I was surprised he accepted my offer or someone didn't buy it while waiting for the offer to be accepted. Just worked out I guess.

You can pick your steel, scale material, have engraving, etc. I love M4 and G-10 scales so for me it was a no brainer. I was able to get this once cheaper than the shot show Grip with M4.

/|\ Belchie, I think the custom Bench Made Shop is a great thing. I'd be thrilled to be able to get a 94X or 53X with materials that would make me happy & proud to carry that knife. And I could really care less if 10,000 others had the same knife.
It would be great if you could focus on the joy your collection brings you, & have the grace to let others enjoy their's.

I don't know how many people buy custom shop Grips, but based on how few I see here, my guess would be fewer than a hundred per month, perhaps far fewer, only a few hundred per year. Most will be black or sand. So when you think about S30V, 20CV, D2, 154CM, M4, horizontal, vertical, or classic scale milling, I doubt if more than five or ten knives like Fox's get made in a year. I've only seen one other forum member post a pic of a knife similar to mine. I'll never see another like mine in anyone's pocket or for sale on the Internet. It may as well be a one off, or at most a 1 of 10, as far as I'm concerned. That's pretty exclusive.

Agreed, that's why I couldn't justify the prices the Shot Show Grips are going for when I can purchase a Custom for cheaper.

I ordered a custom Grip when I was trying to replace my Presidio EDC and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. I feel as though the custom also gets more attention in the shop during assembly and finishing than the other Grips (I could be wrong). Unfortunately, I just kept missing the Presidio grip ergonomics for my uses. Here's a pic from the beer thread:

I have spending money, so I think I'm going to get another Custom Grip. I'm thinking D2 with tan G-10 scales and silver hardware.

I like it. I like D2. About the only way to get an uncoated D2 Griptilian.

Very close Po. I did a 550/Sheeps Foot Blade and the Vertical Ridge G-10. I've always thought the 550 would be very utilitarian, I guess I'll find out.

It's funny without exaggeration I have probably owned over a hundred different Grips and I never get tired of them.

    I've had 440c, 154CM, D2, S30V, M2, M4, 20cv but not N680 yet (I may fix that today)

I have had trainers and even the clear handled unshapened AXIS display knife.

I have given many as gifts and received several as gifts.

I have had the true pleasure of sitting with Mel Pardue and talking about the incredible success of the design.

It is truly a special knife to me.

    That'll be cool. The 550 is a great shape and I love BM's D2.

I gotta sign off before I talk myself into getting one.

It really is extraordinary, especially since the advent of the -1 and the G-10 custom shop options.

    I only have twelve myself.

I really like the Tan G-10 in person, very nice color. The quality of this knife is off the charts. One of the sharpest I have ever received new, D2 really holds an edge. Smooth as silk and the blade is perfectly centered. My next BM will probably be a custom as well, I really like them. I probably need a Mini-Grip now.

    Very Pleased.

/|\ I like it's look too. Cabala's had a tan grip with D2, may want to check that out.

The Custom shop allowed me to get all my favorite things: mini, hole opener, G10 with a lovely pattern and M4! All my other carry knives are jealous of the pocket time this one gets.

Must be really beautiful in real life. When I see this, it really bothers me that I don't have a tan G-10 Grip. Lucky #13?

    Congrats!

I apologize for not seeing your question sooner. I got it in M390 (PE). I've only used it for light duty, but it would be my second favorite carry folder to my Presidios (if you count my 3 Presidio's as one knife).

I thought I would mention. I handled the mini grip in a local store and found the grip a little small for my hands. I was lucky enough to try the mini bone collector while they still had one in stock. I purchased the mini bone collector instead, and accumulated a couple extra used because I liked the grip size and ergos so much for that size of folder.

I will say that I don't use the saber grip for my tasks unless it is light duty. I usually use the hammer grip or palm reinforced grip for most of my utility tasks, so what grip you prefer might play a role in which knives you prefer.

I can see Saber Grip (550 is S30, D2, 20CV, M-4, etc) but what is Hammer Grip? Something Bill Hammer likes?
    Wink

I can say that as long as 550 in SG, I have used with relatively confident in heavy duty use. The grip in Griptilian allows to have less hot spots in your palm, especially that of G10 handle.

/|\ MFL the "hammer grip" is grabbing the knife handle like you'd grab a roofing hammer, my usual grip is saber grip but depends on task at hand.

I built the same exact one but have yet to pull the trigger - very nice!

I had the same thoughts until mine arrived. Had a list of fit and finish issues. I had to send it back and they very promptly replaced it with a brand new knife. But my experience shows they certainly do not put any more tlc into the custom shop grips for sure. It was honestly the worst fit and finish I have seen on a mini grip. But customer service rocked as always.
